Funeral for Deputy Sikes set for Monday

Editors note: This story originally ran on May 1, but is being rerun ahead of the funeral for Deputy Sikes on Monday.

The funeral route for Deputy Brandon Sikes, who was killed in the line of duty on April 26, has been announced.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook that law enforcement participating in the funeral procession will meet at Poteet Funeral Home, 214 Davis Road, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 5. The procession will leave the funeral home at approximately 11:20 a.m. and proceed down Washington Road to Ronald Reagan Drive to Evans Towne Center Boulevard to Main Street.

The funeral will take place at noon at the Columbia County Performing Arts Center. The service will end with final honors outside the PAC.

The Sheriff’s Office said community members are welcome to line the route to show their respects to Deputy Sikes.

“We thank the public for their continued support and ask for patience and understanding regarding temporary traffic delays during the procession,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
