The 86th Annual Georgia Prison Wardens Association (GPWA) Conference is being held in Augusta this week and Richmond County Sheriff Eugene Brantley gave the opening remarks.
The event, which is being held June 15-18 at the Augusta Marriott, is a gathering of corrections leaders, wardens and industry experts from all over Georgia to discuss statewide corrections practices. The topics discussed include image management, facility security, mental health and wellness and more.
Following the success of FBI LEEDA Leadership Academy and recent gang-prevention conference in Augusta, Sheriff Brantley is in discussion with the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association about future bringing future conferences and trainings to Augusta.
“Augusta–Richmond County offers an exceptional backdrop for meetings of this scale,” said Sheriff Brantley. “Our vision includes expanding access to high-level training and conferences that not only support corrections professionals but also bolster our regional business community. We are grateful that GPWA chose Augusta and stand ready to assist them and others in the future.”
