Could a new golf course and development be coming to North Augusta?

A website for Cypress Shoals has gone live stating “Coming Soon: America’s Next Great Masterpiece.” It states the 1,742 acres is 4.5 miles from The Augusta National and will be a multi-generational, mixed-use development that will feature riverfront property, including luxury condominiums, villas and estate lots and is designed for those who love the outdoors and enjoy having an active lifestyle.

“Cypress Shoals is the perfect combination of luxury and ease of access without compromising the tranquility of exclusivity, the privacy of seclusion as well as absolute security,” the website says.

According to the website, there will be two 18-hole golf courses, with one designed by two-time Masters champion Tom Watson.

“Today, Cypress Shoals taps into the mind of the man with the magic touch, bringing his skill and experience to design a championship course that’s nothing short of brilliant,” the website states. “Adding Watson’s signature touch to Cypress Shoals not only broadens its appeal to golfers but also assures the value his name brings to enhancing a luxury lifestyle.”

However, according to the Edgefield Clerk of Court website, there have not been any deeds on tracts recorded for the property. Donnie Thompson, who owns property near where the development is being planned for, had no comment.

A letter The Augusta Press received from an anonymous source, from the desk of Jonathan Psalmonds, chairman of 12 Measures, thanks the recipients for their ongoing commitment to the sale of their property to 12 Measures and discusses a missed closing for property.

“Hopefully, despite the most recent missed closing, you now have a better view into our process to date and, most importantly, a renewing confidence in how we are proceeding to close by March 31st. We are working diligently to move forward with the final items of our process, and are positioned to close as currently forecasted by March 31, 2023.”
