Governor Kemp Makes Judicial Appointments

Two local seats that have remained vacant for more than a year have been filled by Governor Brian Kemp.

Kemp appointed former District 23 state senator and former Waynesboro Mayor Jesse Stone to the Superior Court opening.

Stone is a graduate of the University of Georgia Law School. Stone has been a partner in the Merrill and Stone law firm in Waynesboro since 1986. His appointment replaced retired Superior Court Judge Michael Annis.

On the Magistrate Court bench, Kemp appointed Carletta Sims Brown.

Brown received her law degree from Marquette University Law School and served previously as a magistrate in Cobb County.

Currently, a managing attorney at Sims Brown Law in Marietta and Augusta, Brown replaces William Jennings who died while in office.
