The Greenbrier High School girls flag football team is returning to the state championship for the third consecutive year, and the Wolfpack are aiming to secure a rare three-peat. The back-to-back defending champions will face the Jenkins High Warriors on December 15 inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Greenbrier enters the title game with a 21-3 record and has one of the most dominant defenses in Georgia. The Wolfpack have allowed just 12 total points across their four playoff games. For the season they are giving up only five points per game on average. To put in perspective how good this defense has been, 14 of their 24 opponents have been held to a shutout.
Offensive efficiency
Offensively, the Pack have been very efficient, averaging 21 points per game. Sophomore quarterback Addisen Odom has been electric, completing 65% of her passes while throwing for 3,000 yards and 50 touchdowns.
Her go-to playmakers have been seniors Aaliyah Silver and Lexi Lacey, who have each hauled in 15 touchdown receptions. Silver leads the team in both receiving yards and tackles, recording 821 receiving yards and 78 tackles. On the ground, Junior Mamie Cate Pangle is the leading rusher. She averages 9.3 yards per carry and has ran in three touchdowns. Pangle has also hauled in four passes for touchdowns and has caught 33 passes for 288 yards.
A defense that no quarterback wants to see
Defensively, Greenbrier is stacked with talent at all levels. Senior Darcy Bridwell has recorded 20 sacks, and the secondary has totaled 35 interceptions which includes 12 from standout sophomore Jayla Ayler.
To make history, Greenbrier will need another dominant performance against Jenkins (21-1), who has outscored its playoff opponents 108–13 on its path to the championship.
A community send-off will be held for the team on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 2:30 p.m. at the front of Greenbrier High School.
