NORTH AUGUSTA, SC: A foreboding afternoon gave way to a thunderous evening as the skies opened up midgame and stopped play in its tracks, forcing the suspension of the game between Augusta and Columbia until late August.

The forecast was ominous from the start, but a small window of clear skies allowed the game to begin on time. Braves’ right-hander Ian Anderson got the start in a continued rehab assignment, and worked 3.1 hitless innings before the field was cleared due to thunder and lightning that preceded heavy rainfall. Offensively, the GreenJackets scored 6 runs in 3 innings of chances, capped by a grand slam from Noah Williams, his first home run as a GreenJacket.

Because the game is suspended, it will continue from the same point the next time the two teams meet. That date falls on Tuesday, August 27th, which will now be a doubleheader. The two sides will complete all 9 innings of tonight’s contest, beginning in the top of the 4th with one out and Augusta leading 6-0. Following the first game’s completion, a seven-inning nightcap will be played approximately 35 minutes after game 1’s conclusion. First pitch of the continuation will be at 5:00, and it will be single admission for both games.

All standard ticket policies in terms of exchange will remain the same as previous suspended or postponed ballgames. Tonight’s fireworks show, which was also postponed, will be made up at a later date.

Fans with further questions regarding exchange practices can come to the SRP Park Box Office, or call 803-349-9467.
