*Kannapolis, NC* – The Augusta GreenJackets (Atlanta Braves) had their longest win streak of the season snapped by the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers (Chicago White Sox) on Saturday night. Kannapolis (13-11) scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning in a tie game, sending Augusta (11-13) to their first loss in May.

The GreenJackets struck first in the top of the first inning, with Ambioris Tavarez singling home Tyler Collins to put Augusta up 1-0. The GreenJackets would double their lead in the fourth after Ethan Workinger tripled to extend his hit streak to 10 games, with a Justin Janas RBI single scoring the second run of the game.

After JR Ritchie left the game in the bottom of the fourth, Elison Joseph entered and gave up a home run to tie the game at two. The GreenJackets would get the lead back, though, with a David McCabe single bringing home a pair of runs. However, two wild pitches from Joseph with runners on third tied the game up once more.

The teams remained tied at four until the bottom of the eighth inning, when Jason Franks (L, 0-2) surrendered three runs in just two-thirds of an inning of work, seeing Kannapolis take their first lead of the game. Billy Seidl (W, 2-1) pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth to earn the 7-4 victory.

Tomorrow, Augusta takes on Kannapolis for the series finale at 1:00 PM. Didier Fuentes is the scheduled starter for Augusta. As always, the game can be heard on the GreenJackets Radio Network at bit.ly/GJRadio.

The GreenJackets are on the road to take on the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers (Chicago White Sox) this weekend, before returning to SRP Park to take on the Charleston RiverDogs (Tampa Bay Rays) the week of May 9th. The series with Charleston will include an Education Day Game presented by SRNS, a STEM T-Shirt Giveaway presented by Aiken Technical College, and more! Full promotional details for the upcoming homestand will be released tomorrow, Monday, May 1st. For tickets, visit greenjacketsbaseball.com
