The second round cuts have been made. Tiger Woods is in. And there’s a three-way logjam atop the leaderboard with a frontrunner, an upstart and a slight surprise.
In other words, the scene is set for what looks to be a competitive and exciting conclusion for the 88th Masters Tournament at the Augusta National, beginning with Saturday morning’s start to the third round.
The first group of the day will consist of Rickie Fowler and 2021 Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama, with a 9:35 a.m. scheduled tee time.
On the bookend, Max Homa and Bryson DeChambeau — two of the three golfers tied for first with 2022 Green Jacket winner Scottie Scheffler — will tee off at 2:45 p.m.
Tiger Woods will join Tyrell Hatton for a 12:45 p.m. tee time Saturday which gives Woods a little extra recovery time after a Friday where he played 23 rounds of golf in order to finish up a first round that got called off Thursday evening due to darkness.
Woods came into the Masters having played just 24 total rounds of golf all year.
Scheffler will tee with Nicolai Hojgaard who balanced a first-round 67 with carding a 73 in the second round, putting him two strokes back from his Saturday playing partner.
