Date: April 06, 2024

A foster parent in Grovetown was arrested Thursday for allegedly exchanging explicit photos of himself with a juvenile and expressing a desire to meet up with minor children at local hotels, authorities said.

Robert Neild Busler, 39, of Grovetown, was charged with obscene internet contact with a child.

“This arrest comes after an investigation revealed that Mr. Busler has been exchanging explicit photographs of himself with a minor, via the internet,” Grovetown Police Chief Jamey Kitchens said. “Through internet chats, Mr. Busler has also openly expressed a desire to meet up with minor children at motels as well as accompany them to various Anime and Comicon festivals in the Atlanta area”

Police discovered that Busler serves as a foster parent and has had several children in his care during his time as one.  A juvenile currently residing with Busler has been removed from the home and placed in protective care by the Department of Family and Children Services, Chief Kitchens said.

Forensic interviews of this child, as well as previous children that were in Busler’s care, will be conducted in conjunction with the Child Advocacy Center. Police seized several electronic devices from the suspect’s home.

“The Grovetown Police Department encourages anyone whose children may have had contact with Mr. Busler to reach out to us,” Chief Kitchens said in a press release. “Some online communications indicate that there could possibly be others who were not in his direct care that may have been solicited or taken advantage of.

The investigation took place with the help of the GBI, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance.
