Grovetown High School student arrested after video wielding firearm on campus

A Grovetown High School student has been arrested off-campus after a video surfaced showing them in possession of a firearm in a school bathroom.

The video, which administration were alerted to on Oct. 16, prompted action from the Columbia County School District Police, who worked in conjunction with school officials to identify and apprehend the individual involved.

According to the school district, the students will be additionally held accountable according to its code of conduct.

“We thank those who immediately reported the post to the proper authorities to investigate,” said Grovetown High Principal Andrew Young in a statement sent out regarding the incident. “We take threats of any nature extremely seriously and will investigate fully.”
