Grovetown got into the Christmas spirit with two yuletide events on Saturday.

The city’s “Rock ‘N Roll” Christmas Parade started at 10 a.m. at the Grovetown campus of Augusta Tech, with Commissioner Alison Couch as grand marshal leading the procession down Horizon South Parkway to Wrightsboro Road to Grovetown Middle School.

The city regrouped in the evening, kicking off its Christmas Festival at 5 p.m. that day, complete with hosts of vendors, the band Whiskey Run providing music, long lines to see Santa—with her helper, “Carol the Elf,” assisting kids in writing and sending him letters—and dance performances by Free Movement Dance Studio, ICON Ministries and the Rhythm and Class Cloggers, all before lighting the tree by the end of festivities at about 8:30 p.m.
