The results of the Nov. 7 Grovetown municipal election are now official.

The Columbia County Board of Elections certified the results during a brief meeting on Nov. 13. In the mayor race, Gary Jones(incumbent) received 580 votes (42%), with Ceretta Smith receiving 497 votes (35.99%) and Deborah Fisher receiving 304 votes (22.01%), according to the election results.

For the two city council seats, Eric Blair (incumbent) received 833 votes (34.81%), Richard Bowman received 834 votes (34.85%) and Marsha Keating received 726 votes (30.34%).

Nancy Gay, elections director for the Columbia County Board of Elections, said there were no provisional ballots cast and no outstanding absentee ballots, so the election night numbers are the final numbers. She added that the city will have to have another election to fill the seat left vacant by Fisher when she resigned to run for mayor. That election will be held with the presidential preference primary i March.

Out of the 9,355 registered voters in the City of Grovetown, there were 1,383 ballots casts in the election, for a 14.78% voter turnout.
