Grovetown Neighborhood Hosted Cycling Event for Special Needs Athletes

With area Special Olympic games cancelled due to COVID, a cycling event for special needs athlete was held Oct. 16 in Grovetown.

“Although this is not Special Olympics…these are Special Olympic athletes,” said an email from Jeff Keating, one of the volunteers with the event.

The event was held in Summerfield subdivision off Robinson Avenue in Grovetown with special needs cyclists competing in half-mile, one-mile, 3.4-mile and 6.8-mile races. Each athlete participated in two events.

 Volunteers turned out to cheer on the racers.
