Grovetown offers tours and prizes as part of Georgia Cities Week

The City of Grovetown is offering tours and prizes as part of the Georgia Cities Week event.

“We’re really just trying to reach out to the public and show them what their local government has to offer,” said Jordan Johnson, spokesman for the City of Grovetown.

The tours and contest prizes are in celebration of Georgia Municipal Association’s Georgia Cities Week, which is from April 24-30.

Johnson said the most popular tours have been the city’s museum and wastewater treatment plant. So far residents haven’t taken advantage of the city hall tour.

Here is the remaining schedule:

Wednesday (April 27) – Leisure and Recreation Department at 1040 Newmantown Road tour from 7 to 9:30 a.m. and Grovetown City Hall at 103 Old Wrightsboro Road tour from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Also, on Grovetown’s Twitter account (@grovetownga), there will be a scavenger hunt competition with a prize of Grovetown-related gifts.

Thursday (April 28) – Leisure and Recreation Department 1040 Newmantown Road tour from 7 to 9:30 a.m. and Grovetown Museum at 106 East Robinson Road from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Also, the City of Grovetown’s Facebook page will have a trivia contest, and the first person to post correct answers wins Grovetown-related gifts.

Friday (April 29) – Leisure and Recreation Department 1040 Newmantown Road tour from 7 to 9:30 a.m.; a tour of the Wastewater Treatment Plant at 1500 Lakeview Drive (gated entrance) from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.; Grovetown Museum at 106 East Robinson Road from noon to 4 p.m.; and a tour of the Grovetown Municipal Courthouse at 113 East Robinson Road from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

Saturday (April 30) Grovetown Museum tour at 106 East Robinson Road from noon to 4 p.m.
