It’s almost summer, and that means one thing for the City of Grovetown: it’s almost time for Summer Jam.
The event has been taking place for several years, said Jordan Johnson, public information officer for the city. The event takes place at Liberty Park and always in the middle of the summer.
“It’s a free community event that we invite the whole city out to, and it’s just a great time right in the heart of the city,” Johnson said.
The event will have something for everyone, Johnson said. There’s going to be live music, inflatables, a water slide, a dunk tank, food vendors, craft vendors and door prizes. There will also be an appearance from Big Juicy of Lizard Lick Towing.
“It’s just another great way to take advantage of what the city of Grovetown has to offer,” Johnson said of the event. “Our leisure and recreation department is always planning community events that are free to attend and tons of fun for the whole family. There’s going to be something for everybody, whether you want to go and simply shop for some local crafts or eat some food from some of our local food vendors, or whether you’re a kid and you want to go play on the water slide or go throw some balls at the dunk tank, there’s something for everybody.”
This is a free event to attend, but attendees should bring cash or cards to use at the food and craft vendors, Johnson said.
Summer Jam isn’t the only summer event the city has planned. Johnson said the city will be holding the annual drive-thru barbecue at a later date in the summer with details still being determined.
Summer Jam will take place on Saturday, June 17 from noon to 6 p.m. at Liberty Park, 1040 Newmantown Road. To keep up to date on what is happening in the city, visit the city of Grovetown Facebook page.
“We’re very much looking forward to it. We’re always about community in our city,” Johnson said. “We look forward to inviting the community out for another successful Summer Jam.”
