Lanham was previously arrested by Grovetown City Police Department on charges of distributing obscene materials and sexual battery.

Investigator Matthew Williamson of Grovetown City Police said in that instance, Lanham approached a woman working as the office manager of a retirement community and proceeded to show her explicit material before touching and groping her.

Maj. Steve Morris of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office stated that Columbia County investigators became aware of a man approaching women along Euchee Creek Trail and presenting them with obscene material when residents began posting about their experiences on a Facebook neighborhood community page.

These women recounted being approached by a young, black male with short hair who asked them to take his picture on his cell phone. When they took his phone, there was explicit content open on the screen.

Investigators reached out to the women from the community page, and reports were filed.

“We then took the mugshot of this guy from the Grovetown incident, put it in a photo lineup and the ladies picked him out,” said Morris.

One of the victims, who has asked to remain anonymous for privacy reasons, said that she was happy to hear that Lanham had been arrested.

“I’m very glad he was arrested. I was notified when he was bonded out,” she said. “He’s a repeat offender. I hope he gets some time.”

Lanham was released on a $2,700 bond.
