A Grovetown woman was charged Tuesday with homicide by vehicle for causing a wreck last month that resulted in fatal injuries to a passenger in the other car.
Sherice Croskey Ratliff, 38, was arrested in connection with the May 19 wreck on Wrightsboro Road at Jackson Road in Augusta. Victim Sun Hui Kernodle, 71, of Augusta, died three days later from her injuries.

It was around 4 p.m. when Ratliff attempted to turn left from Wrightsboro Road onto Jackson Road through a yellow flashing left-turn arrow, according to the report. The victim’s husband, 69-year-old Junie Kernodle, was driving a 2013 Chrysler Town & Country on Wrightsboro Road and had the green light. He struck the right side of Ratliff’s 2016 Dodge Charger in the intersection. He survived.

Ratliff was found at fault for failing to yield while turning left. Homicide by vehicle is a misdemeanor.
According to her obituary, Mrs. Kernodle was owner and operator of Rose Petal Florist, a shop on East Robinson Avenue in Grovetown, for 39 years. She was a native of South Korea.
