Gummies, vape pens & resin! $500K drug bust rocks Aiken County

George Huntington, right, is accused in a major marijuana trafficking operation.

Date: May 08, 2025

A major drug trafficking operation was dismantled on Tuesday, following an investigation led by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division. Authorities seized an estimated half a million dollars’ worth of illegal marijuana products and arrested one suspect in connection with the case.

Investigators confiscated approximately 70 pounds of hybrid marijuana, five pounds of marijuana resin, 2,500 THC-infused gummies, and 5,000 THC vape pens. The operation came to light after a tip-off about a suspicious shipment from California to North Augusta, which triggered a swift multi-agency investigation, a press release says.

“The investigation started after a tip was received of a large pallet being shipped from California to the North Augusta area that possibly contained marijuana,” Major Jason Griffin said in a press release. “Our Narcotic Investigators went right to work with the information from this tip and successfully put an end to this operation.

As a result, 23-year-old George Huntington of Warrenville was arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana. The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the FBI and the North Augusta Department of Public Safety.

Sheriff’s officials described the bust as a “significant victory” in the ongoing battle against illegal drug trade in the region. Authorities emphasized their continued commitment to collaborating with community members and law enforcement partners at all levels to safeguard the public.

Huntington has several Aiken County arrests in the past, including DUI and two drug offenses. The 2020 drug offenses no longer appear on the Aiken County Case Management site, suggesting they were possibly dismissed.
