Popeyes, 3209 Deans Bridge Road, Augusta, received a failing score of 68. Inspector’s comments included: “observed cheese, pickles, mayonnaise, spicy sauce cooler at above 41 degrees in prep top cooler; mayonnaise and spicy sauce are labeled as to be refrigerated containing egg yolk” and “observed flies through facility and back door open.”

Other inspector’s comments included: “observed shortening stored on floor,” “observed food stored on floor in walk-in freezer,” “observed debris on food contact surfaces,” “observed scoop left in flour,” and “observed standing water and missing tiles in back of kitchen.”
The second lowest score was a 79, and it was received by New China, 5112 Wrightsboro Road Suite A, Grovetown. Inspector’s comments included: “observed bowl of cream cheese under raw chicken and pork,” “observed several items (egg rolls, chicken, sauce) all above 41 degrees,” “observed cardboard on shelves, remove cardboard, use proper shelf coverings,” “cleaning needed on: food storage containers, fryer sides, shelves,” and “remove unused equipment from outside.”
The third lowest score was received by Sonic Drive-In, 3743 Wheeler Road, Augusta, with a score of 80. Inspector’s comments included: “observed multiple food items stored uncovered inside the reach-in freezer,” “observed black build-up inside the bulk ice machine at the front food service drink machine,” “observed tomatoes (47F), lettuce (43F), and cheese (72F) cold held above 41F,” “observed employees not wearing bread restraints during active food prep,” “observed oil and food build-up on cooking equipment,” and “observed the dumpster doors left open.”
