The Sports Center, at 594 Broad St. in Augusta, received a failing score of 56.

Inspector’s comments included: “observed dead fruit flies in bottom of reach-in-freezer” and “observed person in charge handle cash and touch other items before continuing to dice up cucumber without washing hands.”

In addition to a bug spray, not intended for commercial food establishment usage, being stored in a cabinet, the inspector also noted the improper storage of food.

“Observed cheese and sour cream cold holding above 41 degrees Fahrenheit,” the inspector wrote.

Other comments from the inspector pointed out: “observed most recent inspection [score of 74] not posted,” and “observed hole in wall in men’s restroom and observed hole in ceiling tile above reach-in-cooler.”

Benton House of Augusta, 204 Frazier Court, Augusta received an 82. Inspector’s comments included: “observed black and slime buildup inside the bulk ice machine in the main kitchen” and “observed sour cream at 48 degrees Fahrenheit inside the reach-in-cooler in the main kitchen.”

The Four Oaks’ swimming pool, at 1715 Stableridge Way, in Evans, received a score of 85. Inspector’s comments highlighted a non-operational 911 phone.
