Robert Cleveland Shipley

Note: An earlier version of this story mis-identified a second suspect and should have listed the man as 37-year-old James Wayne Cooper. We regret the error.

Richmond County authorities are looking for a Hephzibah man for his alleged role in stealing an enclosed trailer, a crime that may be tied to gang activity.

Robert Cleveland Shipley, 41, is being sought for stealing the 8×14 trailer that contained more than $30,000 worth of items, including a chain saw, insulation, two generators, a water heater and a vintage Seeburg jukebox valued at nearly $1,500.

The victim said she was storing the trailer last summer at a friend’s house on the 2200 block of White Road in Augusta. Her friend told her that Shipley was with two others who came on the property Aug. 4 in a Blue 4 Runner, attached the V-nose white enclosed trailer and drove it off the property. She gave authorities photos of the suspects.

The victim’s friend told deputies that the trailer was “taken by gang members as collateral,” the report says, with no other explanation.
