A Hephzibah woman was fatally struck by a vehicle Monday morning on the 4600 block of Windsor Spring Road, authorities said.

Lisa Marie Lewis, 42, was rushed to Augusta University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 11:39 a.m. Monday, Chief Deputy Coroner Kenneth Boose Sr. said in a press release.

Southbound traffic was temporarily detoured to Patterson Bridge Road, but the road has since been reopened.

The Coroner’s Office and Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death, which was “not a hit and run,” sheriff’s Sgt. Kimberly Lee said.

No autopsy is scheduled at this time, the chief deputy coroner said.
