Lakeside’s domination of Evans is as eyebrow-raising as the Knights’ 2-0 start was that set them atop our first power rankings. Hence the reason why the Panthers have made that jump.
This week’s games are matching up teams in such a way that it should create some real movement in these rankings seven days from now. Strom Thurmond vs. North Augusta will get lots of billing locally, but it’ll be interesting to see how Laney at Greene County turns out.

Rankings Summary: Lakeside has the top spot this week by way of its convincing 21-0 win over previously undefeated Evans. The Panthers, with Swiss Army knife talent Ty Jones, look legit. Laney will have a shot to take a pretty sizable jump with a win at Greene County. Strom Thurmond and North Augusta will play a statement game against each other. Teams like Harlem and Lincoln County will jump back into action and have a chance to make a climb. Thomson hangs on to the No. 10 spot after hanging on to defeat a stubborn Richmond Academy squad.
Others considered: Westside, Greenbrier, Hephzibah, South Aiken.
