Date: August 25, 2023

Thanks to temperatures flirting with triple digits on Friday afternoon, the Richmond County School System decided to push back game times from 7:30 p.m. until 8 p.m., according to a press release sent from the school system late Friday afternoon.

“All four Richmond County School System games will begin at 8 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023,” the release stated. “The start time has been moved back 30 minutes for the following games: Aquinas at Westside; Glenn Hills High at Cross Creek; Hephzibah at Laney; and Savannah at Academy of Richmond County.

As of 4:40 p.m., the temperature in Augusta was 96 degrees with a heat index of 103, according to The Weather Channel app. Hourly forecasts showed that temperatures would stay in the mid 90s until after 8 p.m. Most games on the South Carolina side of the CSRA had been pushed back to an 8 p.m. start time on Thursday evening in anticipation of the heat.

Tickets for all games can still be purchased at gofan.co.
