Hiring staff for freestanding emergency room in North Augusta

Aiken Regional Medical Center is holding a hiring event for its freestanding emergency room under construction in North Augusta.

The event will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 31 at the Holiday Inn Express, 138 Stephens Farm Rd., just off Edgefield Road.

Interested candidates are asked to bring a CV (curriculum vitae) or resume.  Candidates may be given on-site interviews and may also receive an immediate job offer.

Available positions include registered nurses, X-Ray technologists and patient access representatives.

Called ER at Sweetwater, the facility is being built near the intersection of Austin Graybill Road and Market Plaza Drive in the area of North Augusta commonly referred to as “Exit Five” due to its location off Interstate 20 in South Carolina.

The facility will be 11,000 square feet and will be staffed with fulltime physicians. It will have private exam rooms with radiology and laboratory services on-site. It will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and a physician will always be on staff.

After receiving initial treatment there, if the patient needs to be transported to a hospital, the patient will choose where to go, either to Aiken Regional or to one of the hospitals in Augusta.

In addition to the new facility, Hospital CEO Jim O’Loughlin said Aiken Regional is planning additional locations in North Augusta, including a satellite clinic on Georgia Avenue.

ER at Sweetwater is scheduled to open in June 2022.

Dana Lynn McIntyre is an award-winning reporter who began working in radio news in her hometown of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She also worked as a television news photographer for a station in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Dana moved to Savannah, Ga. in 1984 to join the news team at WIXV-FM/I95 Radio. In early 1986, WBBQ Radio in Augusta invited her to interview for a position with the news department. Within three weeks, Dana was living in Olde Town and working at a legendary radio station.
