Hit & run driver sought after seriously injuring pedestrian in Aiken County

 A Warrenville man remained in the hospital Friday as authorities continue seeking the hit & run driver who struck him a week ago as he was walking along the road.

Joseph Parker was reportedly walking down Piney Heights Road around 3:30 a.m. Saturday (April 8) when he was hit by a white van. His friend Amanda Robinson said he had been at another friend’s house on Dunbar Street.

“He wanted to go home but his friend had went to bed so he decided to walk home to Arabian Court, which is off of Piney Heights just up from the church where he was hit at,” Robinson said. “He was walking against traffic up the hill and he saw headlights, and the next thing he remembers is waking up in the hospital.”

Parker, who works with a local tree service, has undergone several surgeries at Augusta University Medical Center. He suffered a collapsed lung, broken ribs, a broken pelvis, road rash and more.

The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the hit & run and issued a flyer seeking information on the wreck Anyone with information on the identity of those responsible is asked to submit your anonymous tip by calling the S.C. Highway Patrol at 803-896-9621 or 1-800-768-1501.
