Falando Mobley

Date: October 18, 2023

Richmond County authorities made a quick arrest Monday night after a homeless man cleared out the registers of two fast-food chicken restaurants and a Family Dollar store.

Falando Marquette Mobley, 35, was found on Lumpkin Road after the hold-ups at the Zaxby’s, Church’s Chicken and Family Dollar. All three are located within walking distance on Peach Orchard Road.

Zaxby’s (2629 Peach Orchard Rd), Church’s Chicken (2701 Peach Orchard Rd) and Family Dollar (2716 Peach Orchard Rd) were the location of armed robberies on Monday night.

“Deputies learned that a Black male subject carrying a backpack demanded the clerks to give him all the money out of the registers while holding his hand in the backpack indicating he had a firearm,” Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Caleb Lee said.

He wasn’t found with a gun, only a knife. Mobley is being held without bond at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center on two counts of armed robbery, one count of criminal attempt armed robbery, and three counts of possession of a knife during the commission of a crime.

The suspect has two previous arrests in Richmond County, including a domestic violence arrest in 2020 that remains unresolved in court after three years. A 2007 arrest for disorderly conduct led to probation.
