The health inspection world grades a score below 70 as failing, however, no restaurants, pools or hotels received a failing score from inspections on June 16–20.
Worst scores in this week’s health inspection
This week’s lowest health inspection score was a 78 earned by a Home 2 Suites, located at 3606 Exchange Way, in Augusta.
During the inspection, the inspector noted a broken gate by the pool, which resulted in a deduction.
“Adjust gate nearest pump room so that it self-closes and latches. (Note: lock gate until repaired),” the report stated.
The inspector also noted a water leakage, resulting in another reduction.
“Water was leaking from pipe attached to chlorinator at initial inspection (water leak repaired upon request),” the report stated.
The inspector also deducted points from the health score for noticing no rope attached to a throw life ring.
“Attach rope to life/throw ring (rope must be 1 1/2 times width of pool),” the report stated.
Lastly, the inspector also deducted points for seeing a damaged flow meter.
“Flow meter float stuck or flowmeter not working: repair to indicate flow thru pump/filter system,” the report stated.
The second lowest score of the week was a 79 given to The Sports Center, located at 594 Broad St., in Augusta.
The inspector deducted nine points for noticing foods being improperly stored.
“Observed cheese, chicken, and cole slaw stored above 41 degrees Fahrenheit in reach-in-cooler,” the report stated.
During the inspection, the inspector deducted another three points for finding food unlabeled.
“Observed containers with food and salad dressings (i.e.cole slaw) with no label,” the report stated. “Label all items stored outside of their original container with their common name.”
For noticing a lack of written procedures, the establishment lost another four points.
“Observed no bodily fluid cleanup kit and written response procedures for vomiting and diarrheal events,” the report stated.
The establishment also lost another four points for a lack of menu information.
“Observed no consumer advisory on menu,” the report stated. “Add “eating undercooked seafood or meat can cause health problems” or standard advisory on menu.”
Following the sports bar inspection, the third lowest score of the week was an 80 given to Namaste Indian Street Food, located at 4272 Washington Road, Suite 5, in Evans.
The inspector deducted nine points for noticing unsafe food storage practices.
“Observed several food items held above 41 F,” the report stated.
During the inspection, the inspector deducted four more points for noticing a lack of proper cleaning chemicals being utilized in the dishwasher.
“Observed dishwasher not dispensing sanitizer,” the report stated.
After finding food not placed at least six inches off the ground, the establishment’s health inspection score lost another three points.
“Observed bulk containers of food product sitting on ground,” the report stated.
For witnessing an employee wearing accessories while handling food, the inspector deducted three more points.
“Observed staff member wearing watch while handling food,” the report stated.
The establishment another point for not displaying the most recent health inspection score.
“Observed most recent health inspection report not posted,” the report stated.
