Grovetown police arrested a WOW Internet technician Tuesday following a complaint from a customer during a service visit, according to authorities.
Police identified the suspect as Soumen Sinha, 34, of Evans, who was charged with unlawful eavesdropping or surveillance, a felony.
According to a Grovetown police, officers responded Monday to a residence on Grove Landing Court regarding a complaint involving a technician who had been working inside the home. The victim told officers that Sinha was at her residence installing new equipment for Wide Open West (WOW). She said Sinha asked to use her cell phone to download an application needed for the installation and requested her password, which she provided.
After Sinha returned the phone, the victim noticed an unusual text message and checked her deleted messages. She discovered that multiple sexually explicit photos and videos of herself, as well as images involving her and her husband, had been sent to an unknown phone number while Sinha had possession of the device.
Grovetown Capt. W. Loomer responded to the scene. Police say the victim showed officers that at least 51 sexually explicit videos and images had been sent to one phone number.
Sinha initially denied involvement, according to the report. He later gave Capt. Loomer permission to search his Apple iPhone. During the search, Loomer found that the same phone number had been in frequent communication with Sinha’s phone.
After being confronted with that information, police say Sinha admitted that he had sent the images and videos to himself without the victim’s permission. He also showed officers a second cell phone hidden inside his WOW work truck, according to the report.
Police state that during questioning, Sinha admitted to having committed similar acts involving other customers.
Sinha was transported to the Columbia County Detention Center and later released on bond. Following the arrest, the victim shared details of the incident in a public Facebook post warning others not to use the service. The post included photos of Sinha’s arrest and spread widely on social media, receiving nearly 300 shares.

Court records show that Sinha has prior arrests. In 2019, he and another suspect were charged with theft by deception after allegedly returning a desktop computer to a Martinez Walmart for a refund without all internal components. Police reports also reference a prior theft-by-deception arrest involving Sinha at a Grovetown Walmart in 2018.
