It’s always great to have a guest chef in my kitchen.

I have learned so much over the years from some amazing culinary geniuses and certainly Cory Bahr is no exception. He is the owner/Chef of Parish Restaurant in Monroe, La., along with Standard Coffee Company and Heritage Catering. He is a Food Network Star finalist and also appeared on Chopped.

Full of energy and enthusiasm for his work – things got pretty HOT in the kitchen with the synergy between us!

The common thread between Cory and me is that we both represent Tony Chachere’s Seasoning as brand ambassadors. Cory is also a culinary ambassador for the state of Louisiana, and with the Creole flair, he brings to the table in his restaurant.

It makes perfect sense that Tony’s would latch on to him. So what did they see in this little Georgia firecracker? We actually have two recipes in our cookbook that use Tony Chachere’s Cajun Seasoning. Pimento Cheese and Shrimp & Crawfish Casserole gained their notoriety as being two of the most notable dishes in our mail order division.

I am very honored to be listed among the Ambassador’s that represent this amazing company.

This week’s show will showcase the influence Cajun Cuisine has had on Southern cooking and how well a notable Chef and a lady who just “knows how to cook” can create some fun in the kitchen. Catch The VeryVera Show at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 27 and at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 29 on WJBF-TV.

A few of the recipes on this week’s show include Instant Pot Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya; a Cajun-inspired chimichanga and seafood stuffed mushrooms.
