Date: June 09, 2022

When Vera Stewart was growing up, her grandmother used to talk about hen parties, leaving a young Vera to wonder exactly what that meant.

Any time her grandmother had a group of ladies together or a bridge club meeting, she referred to it as a hen party.

And what’s a party without amazing food? Well, Vera has just the recipes for that.

In case you missed this episode from Season 9, “Hen Party” is re-airing at 12:30 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 p.m. Saturday on WJBF-TV Channel 6.

With her mother-in-law’s carrot sandwich (you won’t believe the sandwich filling is carrots) and a Cornish hen recipe from another woman who instilled Vera’s love of the kitchen, Vera brings together a menu that’s sure to delight guests at any party.

She tops it all off with a tart lemon-rosemary shortbread that is sure to thrill shortbread lovers everywhere.

In Vera’s corner, she highlights easy-to-grow herbs and gives tips on what dishes to bake them in. One of the herbs featured is rosemary. Fresh out of your herb garden, it provides just the right flavor for that shortbread bar.

Vera will soon be gearing up for season 11, but the finale episode for season 10 is coming up soon. While I won’t share the secret just yet, I will tell you it will be peachy keen.
