In the Kitchen with Vera: Sweet potatoes

Vera with sweet potato pie.

Date: November 03, 2022

This time of year, most people are craving pumpkin spice everything!  In that same color family, I prefer sweet potatoes and if you are the same way, you CAN’T miss this week’s show. The recipes are easy, delicious, can be YOUR contribution to Thanksgiving this year and are sure to bring lots of compliments from the guests.

The Sweet Potato Biscuits are so moist, crisp up well on top and then really come to life with the Honey Pecan Butter, which by the way also is amazing inside of a baked sweet potato! We are so thrilled to be partnering with Pearson Farm this season and its pecans are better than great. It’s truly one of my favorite snacks, but I love to cook and bake with pecans, too. Definitely check out the new website and subscribe to the newsletter.

The Sweet Potato Casserole was part of our “Everything But The Turkey” package during my mail order days and is now a favorite in our Cookbook. If you don’t have the cookbook, check it out HERE and get a few extras as gifts for the Holidays. This recipe has a crisp streusel top which is one of my favorite parts about it.

Finally, the STAR of the show today is the Sweet Potato Cake. Oh my goodness, if I had made that back in the day, we would have been shipping that all over the U.S.! I even take you back to my teaching days and show you step by step how to do the signature Kitty Swirl and Kitty Hopkins will also be recognized in the show.

Please tune in at 12:30 p.m. Thursday or at 2:30 p.m. Sunday on WJBF-TV Channel 6 for a special showing.
