The Augusta Sports Council announced Thursday that it will host the Inaugural Soul City Criterium on Tuesday, April 26, in downtown Augusta as the fourth stop on the 2022 Speed Week Tour.
The race will be a high speed, one-mile criterium featuring the best men’s and women’s criterium racers in the world. More than 200 participants from around the Southeast are expected, according to a news release from the sports council. Races will begin at 4 p.m. with the Masters 45+ and will end with the Men’s Pro going off at 7:20 p.m.

“Our board of directors and staff are thrilled to bring another exciting cycling event to downtown Augusta. With Augusta’s rich history of cycling events over the past three decades, we are grateful to be a part of this year’s Speed Week Tour and look forward to welcoming the athletes next month,” says Michelle Naval, CEO of the Augusta Sports Council.
Speed Week is April 22 through May 1 and includes the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Criterium, April 22; Spin the District Criterium in Hapeville on April 23; LaGrange Cycling Classic, April 24; Soul City Criterium, April 26; Downtown Walterboro Criterium, April 30; AOC Twilight Criterium, April 30, and Spin the District: College Park, May 1.
