Inspired by 1980s films, Cam Logan has created his first feature-length film that he hopes will be screened in upcoming film festivals.

“I just love 80s’ movies,” said Logan, whose film, “Bryn Gets a Life,” has been submitted to multiple festivals and is awaiting a reply. “I grew up watching them.”

“The Breakfast Club” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” are two of his favorite films and references to 80s movies often show up in his scripts.

“Bryn Gets a Life” features characters that showed up in Logan’s previous short films “Bryn Gets a Job” in 2017 and “Teddy’s Party” in 2018. Hannah Lori, who played Bryn, and Brandon Fields, who played Teddy, in those films are also part of “Bryn Gets a Life.”

Logan said he’d gotten positive responses from his short features, which prompted him to work on the full-length one.

In this movie, Bryn gets a job at a record store. It was shot at the former location of Grantski Records in Augusta. The owner’s prized possession is a gold record which is prominently displayed in the store. When he goes out of town, he leaves Bryn in charge. Bryn’s not too responsible, and the gold record comes up missing when she forgets to lock the building. It’s her job to find the record before her boss returns.

Other scenes were shot in Edgefield, S.C. The city blocked off the street, and Logan brought in older model vehicles for the shoot.

“The reason I picked Edgefield was because ‘That Darn Cat’ was filmed there. I loved the look of the town square,” he said.

The remake of “That Darn Cat” was released in 1997, starring Christina Ricci and Doug E. Doug.

Logan said there’s a subplot to “Bryn Gets a Life,” but he doesn’t want to spoil that surprise for moviegoers. He hopes to have a local screening of “Bryn Gets a Life,” but nothing can be set until he knows more about a possible film festival schedule.

Logan isn’t sure what’s next for Bryn and Teddy as his next project is a Southern Gothic drama.

“I currently do not have any plans to do any more with Bryn,” he said.
