Charles Hock, a native of Augusta, Ga., has earned one of the commercial real estate industry’s top designations, the SIOR. Hock is an associate broker with Sherman & Hemstreet Real Estate Co. and has worked in real estate since 2000.
Hock has been the top sales agent for Sherman & Hemstreet for the last six years and is a graduate of Southern Methodist University with a double major in history and economics.
SIOR is an acronym for the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors. Candidates for the SIOR must choose to specialize in either office or industrial property brokerage.
“Whether you’re an office or industrial SIOR, you are known for being in the top tier of brokers nationwide,” Hock said. “No matter what market you are in, if you are working with an SIOR, you know you are getting advice from an expert. It’s an honor to be part of such an elite group of brokers.”
According to SIOR’s website, a requirement to become an SIOR designee candidate in the Augusta market is producing over $300,000 of commission income for three of the last five years. In addition, the majority of that brokerage must be done in the agent’s specialty, whether office or industrial. Candidates must also pass a rigorous education curriculum and receive recommendations from two other SIOR brokers.

With the addition of Hock, Augusta now how five SIOR brokers. Prior to Hock, the last broker to obtain the designation was Sherman & Hemstreet’s president, Joe Edge in 2012. Prior to that, Scott Atkins of Atkins Commercial Properties received it in 2006. The two longest serving SIORs in Augusta are Jay Willingham (1996), owner of Willingham Commercial, and David Moretz (1998), with Sherman & Hemstreet.
