Augusta University dropped both games in their double header Saturday afternoon at SRP Park, losing to Flagler College 4-1 and 4-2. Augusta drops to 1-3 on the season overall, and 1-2 in conference play this season.
The starting pitching for Augusta was not an issue, with both starters on the day giving quality innings and pretty good performances. Brian Trepainer pitched six innings, only giving up three hits and having three strikeouts, but four walks led to three runs. The offense in the first game was hard to come by for the Jags, as they only could muster one run on five hits in the first game of the doubleheader.

The second game of the doubleheader followed a very similar storyline. Will Cantrell for Augusta would go on to pitch seven innings only walking two batters and only giving up one run. The difference this time, however, was the performance of each team’s bullpen. Augusta’s bullpen would end up giving up three runs in the final 2 innings of the game, while Flagler’s bullpen only gave up one hit in their last 2 innings of relief pitching.
All of Flagler’s runs came in the sixth inning or later in both games. Saints hitting was able to rack up 17 hits on the day.
Another standout performance for the Jaguars in the afternoon was third baseman Ben Markiewicz, as he batted 3-4 with two RBIs in the second game of the double header.
Up next for Augusta, the team hits the road for a three-game conference series against Columbus State.
