Jenkins County dominates Cross Creek

The Jenkins County War Eagles (3-1) defeated the Cross Creek Razorbacks (0-3) 34-6 on Friday, Sept. 9 at the Cross Creek High School Athletic Complex.

Four minutes into the game, Rob-Travius Coney scored the first of many Jenkins County touchdowns during the War Eagles’ first possession. The kick was good, and the score was 7-0.

Christian Wilson scored the second War Eagles touchdown with less than 30 seconds left in the first quarter. The kick was good to make the score 14-0.

Coney made his way into the endzone again as he scored his second touchdown of the game at the start of the second quarter. The score was 21-0 after another good kick.

Tyrone Martin scored the fourth Jenkins County touchdown with less than a minute in the second quarter. The kick was no good, so the score was 27-0.

After halftime, Cross Creek was able to slow Jenkins County down but not before the War Eagles scored their final touchdown on Wilson’s second touchdown of the game. The kick was good, and the score was 34-0.

Tyrek Talbert scored the lone Cross Creek touchdown of the night for the Razorbacks with less than two minutes left in the game. Cross Creek did not make the two-point conversion, so the score was 34-6 to end the game.

Next Friday, Sept. 16, Jenkins County will travel to Screven County. Cross Creek will host Savannah.
