The health inspection world grades a score below 70 as failing, however, no restaurants, pools or hotels received a failing score from inspections on May 26-30.
Worst scores in this week’s health inspection
This week’s lowest health inspection score was an 82 earned by Jim N Nick’s Community BBQ, located at 275 Robert C Daniel Jr Parkway, in Augusta.
During the inspection, the inspector noted observing a lack of cleanliness in meat storage, which resulted in a one point deduction
“Observed standing water and debris in meat [walk-in-cooler],” the report stated. “Clean. Increase cleaning frequency.”
The inspector also noted witnessing food being improperly stored, resulting in a four point reduction.
“Observed meat stored uncovered in the meat cooler,” the report stated. “Store all food items covered.”
The inspector also deducted another nine points from the health score for noticing foods once again being improperly stored.
“Observed several [temperature control] food held above 41 degrees,” the report stated. “All [temperature control] food cold held should be 41 degrees and below.”
Lastly, the inspector also deducted a point for seeing a utensil being incorrectly stored.
“Observed scoop improperly stored in sugar and batter,” the report stated. “Ensure sure all scoops are properly stored and handles outside of food.”
The second lowest score of the week was an 83 given to Sheraton Augusta, located at 1069 Stevens Creek Road, in Augusta.
The inspector deducted four points for noticing insufficient supplies at handwashing sinks.
“Supply all handwash sinks with single use towels, avoid blocking use of sink (do not place items on top or in front of sink,” the report stated.
During the inspection, the inspector deducted another four more points for finding improperly disposed labels on food containers.
“Observed old labels stuck to food containers after cleaning,” the report stated.
For storing food at unsafe temperatures, the establishment lost nine more points.
“Observed yogurt, sliced tomatoes, butter above 41F; cold held foods must be maintained at 41F and below,” the report stated.
Following the Sheraton Augusta inspection, the third lowest score of the week was an 84 given to Fort Gordon’s Woodsprings Suites, located at 2115 Noland Connector Road, in Augusta.
The inspector deducted five points for finding water heating up to an unsafe temperature within rooms.
“Hot water from faucets in rooms must not exceed 120F. Measured at 126F,” the report stated.
During the inspection, the inspector deducted five more points for noticing uninspected appliances that must be checked annually.
“All gas fired equipment must be inspected annually and DPH Gas inspection form filled out by licensed contractor. (3 tankless water heaters, 1 dryer. Dryer inspected 4/24),” the report stated.
For finding damage to bathroom areas, the establishment lost another two points.
“Fans in bathrooms must function,” the report stated.
The establishment also lost four points for the inspector noticing unclean appliances in rooms.
“Clean: inside refrigerators, freezers ([Room] 126 had food in freezer), bottom of kitchen cabinets,” the report stated. “Room 409: clean refrigerator/freezer, repair commode (loose from floor), mildew on wall by shower (advise blocking room until corrections made).”
