The 2025 CSRA Heart Ball, sponsored by Piedmont Augusta and WellStar MCG Health, will be held on Feb. 7, 2025, from 6-11 p.m. at Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center, located at 2 10th St., in honor of the Association’s year-round efforts to break down barriers to health in the CSRA.

During the Heart Ball, the American Heart Association, the world’s leading nonprofit organization focused on heart and brain health, will honor volunteers and patrons, feature stories of survivors, and entertain guests with dinner, dancing and an exciting auction.

“For more than 100 years, the American Heart Association has committed to advancing health and hope for everyone, everywhere,” stated a press release from the American Heart Association.

Held annually, the Heart Ball is a celebratory evening to recognize the hope and progress made through the dedication and passion of all who support the American Heart Association’s efforts to make an impact on the health of the community.

These efforts include the relentless pursuit of scientific discovery, public policy change, equitable health for the under-resourced and underrepresented, and education to equip the community to take control of their health.

“Through Heart of CSRA’s Heart Ball campaign, Dr. Michael Johnson, a cardiologist at Piedmont Augusta and Brenda Aiken, cardiovascular information systems manager at Piedmont Augusta, will lead community-wide efforts to help ensure every individual in the Central Savannah River Area has the opportunity for a full, healthy life,” stated a press release from the American Heart Association.

Ansley Howze, Augusta/Aiken American Heart Association executive director, said Johnson’s and Aiken’s commitment to the American Heart Association’s mission, in addition to their deep understanding of community needs and drive to make a difference, makes them the “perfect choice” to co-chair the Heart Ball.

“We are thrilled to have them lead the Heart of CSRA, an initiative that centers around better health for every individual by focusing on critical issues and work to equitably improve and save lives,” said Howze.

As a second-generation cardiologist, Johnson said he is eager to work with the “outstanding” team of the American Heart Association volunteers, who work to drive change by removing barriers to health, investing in groundbreaking research, delivering impactful health education and advocating for healthy policies.

“I am honored to serve as the 2025 CSRA Heart Ball Co-Chair along with Brenda Aiken,” said Johnson.
