Jones Creek is seeking to update its plans to restore its pool house.

On July 3, the subdivision’s HOA office submitted an application to Columbia County Planning requesting a planned unit development (PUD) revision and a variance at the swimming pool property at 785 Jones Creek Drive.

The variance requests to change the setbacks on the pool house structure: four feet in the back, and 15 on the sides and front, as well as changing the pool setbacks to 20-25 feet all around.

In the variance application addendum, HOA president Tripp Nanney states the subdivision aims to demolish and rebuild the current pool house, citing that it’s more than 30 years old and “does not meet the current setbacks required for a recreational structure.”

Nanney also notes that the restrooms in the current structure are not Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant and its stucco interior is rotting, and that the pool needs new equipment.

The subject parcel, less than one acre, abuts the Jones Creek Clubhouse property to its east. Last year, the clubhouse, which closed in 2018, and its six-acre tract were the subject of controversy as Jones Creek homeowners opposed a minor PUD revision request by former owner Mark Herbert. The Planning Commission approved the revision in February of 2023, and the Board of Commissioners voted down an appeal against that decision the following month.

However, in April, the clubhouse property was purchased by a Florida-based buyer under the name Jones Creek Clubhouse LLC.

The Columbia County Planning Commission is scheduled to consider the subdivision’s revision request during its meeting on August 1.
