The Josey Lady Eagles (28-3) used a dominant third quarter to turn a halftime deficit into an eight-point lead en route to a 45-38 win over Central Macon Saturday in the GHSA’s Final Four round of the Class AA state tournament at Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville.

KeAsia Henderson was the star of that pivotal third period as she knocked down a pair of 3-pointers late in the third, then capped the quarter’s scoring with a floater in the paint right at the third quarter buzzer. Henderson and Kerri Fluellen then took turns in the fourth quarter making clutch buckets and defensive stops to build a double-digit lead before Central had to start fouling to stop the clock with under a minute left in regulation.

Josey advances to next Thursday’s Class AA state championship game where it will play the winner of the Murray County-Mount Paran semifinal game which is scheduled for a 5 p.m. tip off.

That game will follow the Butler vs. Toombs County Class AA boys semifinal, slated for a 3 p.m. start time.
