A Georgia man accused of killing two bystanders during an armed robbery at a North Augusta gas station has been extradited to South Carolina.
J’Shawn Deontae Dukes, 21, of Garfield, Georgia, was moved Wednesday from the Charles B. Webster Detention Center in Augusta to the Aiken County Detention Center, where he is being held on two counts of murder, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).
Dukes waived a formal extradition hearing earlier Wednesday before Richmond County Civil and Magistrate Judge H. Scott Allen, telling the judge he wished to return to South Carolina to face charges.
The charges stem from the Oct. 26 shooting at the Sprint gas station on Edgefield Road, where 76-year-old Jewel Harden and 33-year-old Thomas B. Lilly Jr. were killed during an armed robbery.

North Augusta Public Safety officers responding to the scene encountered Dukes walking away from a vehicle with a rifle. Authorities say he pointed the weapon toward officers, prompting an officer to shoot him. Dukes was hospitalized before being booked in Georgia and later extradited.
SLED continues to investigate the double homicide and the officer-involved shooting.
