Juvenile drowns in pool in Augusta neighborhood

Richmond County authorities are investigating the drowning of a juvenile in a pool on Westfield Drive, according to a press release.

The sheriff’s office responded just after 5 p.,m. Tuesday to the 2000 block of Westfield Drive in Augusta. Upon arrival, deputies were informed of a juvenile who was found unresponsive in a pool.

On Wednesday, the child was identified as 2-year-old Kenzo Burt.

“The juvenile was taken to a local hospital where they were later pronounced deceased,” the sheriff’s office said.

Coroner Mark Bowen said the juvenile was pronounced dead at Wellstar MCG Health at 6:19 p.m. Tuesday.  An autopsy has been scheduled.

No other information was released.
