K-9 unit tracking suspect who ran from Col County deputies on Pleasant Home Road

Date: June 26, 2023

A K-9 unit is tracking an unidentified suspect who fled after Columbia County deputy attempted to make a road patrol stop on June 26.

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. when the unidentified driver attempted to flee on Pleasant Home Road.

According to Maj. Steve Morris, the suspect lost control of his vehicle near Sugar Mill Drive, slammed through a wooden fence and fled on foot.

Damage to the rear of the subject’s vehicle seems to verify eye witness accounts that a collision occurred between the subject’s gold Chevrolet Malibu and the police cruiser. A “felony” amount of marijuana was left by the subject at the scene, according to Morris.

The subject is described as a Black male, with dreadlocks and wearing khaki pants.

Richmond and Columbia County deputies have set up a perimeter and have the K-9 unit on-scene tracking the subject on foot.

Neighbors in the area are urged to use caution.
