The Aiken County Public School District has announced the appointment of Kristin Risher as the interim principal of Paul Knox Middle School.
Risher’s appointment was approved by the Aiken County Board of Education on July 9 prior to the start of the school year on July 22, according to a press release from the Aiken County Public School District.
“I’m incredibly honored to have the opportunity to lead Paul Knox as Interim Principal,” said Risher. “Paul Knox has a rich tradition of high expectations and student learning, and I hope to continue that tradition to help all our students learn, grow, and prepare for high school.”
Risher previously served as an assistant principal at North Augusta High School since 2018. Her has earned numerous awards and accolades, including being nominated for assistant principal of the year in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. She was recently named Advocate of the Year by the Palmetto State School Counselor Association.
At North Augusta High School, Risher oversaw all instructional programming, coordinated teacher mentoring and coaching, implemented school-wide testing, led committees advancing strategic goals, facilitated professional development, and assisted in recruitment, retention and hiring. Prior to her time at North Augusta High, Risher was the band director at Silver Bluff High School, where she was recognized as teacher of the year in 2016.
Risher has a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of South Carolina, and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Georgia Regents University. She holds multiple certifications, including tier 1 secondary principal and cognitive coaching.
“I’m really excited about this new role,” she shared. “I’m excited to help make sure Paul Knox is a great place where all students can succeed.”
