The Lakeside Panthers girls’s lacross team defeated the Evans Knights 20-3 at Panthers Stadium in their final regular season game on April 19.
This win was the 12th straight for the Panthers and improved their overall record to a region best of 15-1, including 4-0 in their region.
After the game, Lakeside hoisted a trophy as they celebrated being champions for the region. They celebrated seniors Madison Suell, Merritt Tulowitzky, Reilly DeLoach and Paige Andrews at their Senior Night.
Coming off a 16-1 victory against the Grovetown Warriors, Lakeside jumped ahead early, taking a 7-0 advantage over Evans in the first half. The Panthers would end the half with a 11-1 lead.
This would be thanks in part to Lakeside’s Carly Smith, Savannah Butler, Sarah Horner, Sarah Flynt and Reilly DeLoach each scoring two goals in the first half.
The Panthers would continue their dominance in the second half scoring nine more goals and winning the match 20-3. DeLoach would score three more goals in the second half ending with five goals which led the team for the game.
Butler and Merritt Tulowitzky both finished with three goals each, which tied for the second most among the team. Flynt, Horner, and Smith each finished third with two goals while Flynt also had three assists which led the team.
The Knights suffered their second straight loss falling to 8-7 on the season. Evans finishes their season against Grovetown on April 22.
Lakeside, ranked 16th in Georgia, now moves on to the postseason. They will participate in the state playoffs.
