Columbia County has announced temporary lane closures will occur starting Monday, May 19, as part of ongoing construction on the Lewiston Road widening project.

Contractors with E. R. Snell will close the far right turn lane on the westbound Exit 190 ramp to Lewiston Road on Monday and Tuesday, May 20. The lane closure will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day.

The lane closure is necessary to facilitate continued progress on the roadway widening efforts, which aim to improve traffic flow and accommodate growing transportation demands in the area, according to a. press release from Columbia County.

Drivers are urged to slow down near work zones, maintain a safe distance between vehicles, and obey all warning signs and road crew flaggers.

Officials also recommend planning alternate routes or allowing additional time for commuting during the scheduled closure, according to a press release from Columbia County.
