Lane closures expected next week for Lewiston Road widening project

Starting next week, there will be some road closures associated with the Lewiston Road expansion project.

According to a news release from Columbia County, from Monday, May 1 through Friday, May 12 there will be intermittent lane closures on Lewiston Road from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. from I-20 to Columbia Road, weather permitting. 

There ongoing temporary lane closures will continue from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Lewiston Road from William Few Parkway all the way to the eastbound I-20 ramps. These lane closures will end Friday, May 12, according to the news release.

“Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones,” according to the news release. “If possible, please plan to take an alternate route or allow additional time for commuting during this timeframe.”

The Augusta Press previously reported that the Lewiston Road project is expected to continue through the end of the year.
