Drivers in Columbia County should prepare for two upcoming lane closures as contractors continue road work in the area.

On Sugarcreek Drive, utility repairs will require a temporary closure from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning Monday, Sept. 22, through Wednesday, Sept. 24, weather permitting.

The work is being coordinated by Columbia County and Reeves Construction Company, according to a press release from Columbia County.

In addition, E.R. Snell contractors will continue construction tied to the roadway widening project on Lewiston Road. Intermittent closures will occur from Columbia Road to the Interstate 20 Diverging Diamond Interchange.

These lane restrictions are scheduled for Monday, Sept. 22, through Monday, Sept. 29, between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., according to a press release from Columbia County.

County officials are reminding drivers to take precautions when traveling through work zones.

“Whenever you approach a work zone: slow down; allow extra distance between vehicles; watch for advanced warning signs; obey road crew flaggers; and expect the unexpected,” according to a press release from Columbia County.

Motorists are also advised to consider alternate routes or allow extra travel time while the work is underway.
