The Laney Wildcats remain undefeated in three games as they rolled past the First Presbyterian Day School Vikings (1-2) by a score of 26-14.
For the Wildcats, the running game proved to be unstoppable with CJ Holmes having a monster game.
In the first half, the Wildcats jumped out to a 12-7 lead, behind the running of Holmes.
The Wildcats were the first to score with Holmes catching a nine-yard touchdown pass with 2:09 left in the first quarter. They were unable to score on their two-point attempt.
With the score being 6-0 in favor of the Wildcats, the Vikings would then answer with an 80-yard touchdown pass from FPD’s Jakhari Williams to Carter Hays. Lucas Buckner would follow that up by making the extra point attempt, making the score 7-6 in favor of First Presbyterian with 1:50 left in the first half.

Williams would complete a critical pass to Carter Hays for 15 yards, and another to Gavin Spillers for 13 yards—both for first downs—but several dropped passes stalled their momentum.
At the beginning of the second half, Holmes drove the Wildcats down the field, scoring on a 1-yard touchdown run with a lead block by Laney’s Johnathan Ashley.
Behind the running of Holmes, the Wildcats would finally score on a 2-point conversion, bringing the lead for the Laney to 13 points with the score being 20-7.
